With a conventional name and the typical configuration of luxury charter superyachts, Lady Azul doesn’t claim to revolutionize yacht design or to boast innovative technologies on board. This is the classic type of pleasure craft that millionaire owners prefer for family adventures at sea, in full privacy and perfect comfort. Born to be a luxury toy for water lovers, this twenty-year-old Heesen doesn’t disappoint.

Lady Azul is not one of the most famous Heesen superyachts. The 65-meter Galactica Star and the 50-meter Satori, among others, combined revolutionary naval architecture with exceptional styling. Still, this unassuming 129-footer (39.4 meters) reflects the priceless heritage of the top Dutch builder just as well as the others.

Lady Azul has kept its name for more than two decades. It was officially launched in 2001 as a laid-back yet luxurious vessel for family cruising. The design wizards at Omega Architects brought to life the sleek, elegant silhouette of Lady Azul, coupled with the highly prestigious Heesen naval architecture.

A full-displacement yacht built in steel and aluminum, the beautiful navy blue-and-white Lady Azul was ready for adventurous cruising. Fitted with powerful twin Caterpillar 3412C-DITA boasting 825 HP and with 46,500-liter (12,280 gallons) fuel tanks, the medium-sized yacht offered top-notch performance.

To this day, it can comfortably cover more than 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 km) at a cruising speed of 12 knots (13.8 mph/22 kph). Plus, the Trac zero-speed stabilizers ensure a smooth, comfortable onboard experience all the way.

The five-cabin configuration, suitable for accommodating up to ten guests, was one of the reasons why Lady Azul became a successful charter yacht. In terms of style, Paola D. Smith & Associates endowed it with the fresh and relaxed look of a beach resort. The timeless combination of deep blue and bright white enhanced the interior décor’s maritime inspiration. True to its name, the beautiful yacht integrated the color blue in the best way possible.

The full-beam owner’s suite holds its traditional placement on the main deck, while the lower deck houses two double VIP cabins and two twins. All of them include en-suite bathrooms, entertainment centers, and hostess call buttons. Four additional cabins are dedicated to the crew and can accommodate up to eight people.

Lady Azul’s luxury amenities include a spacious beach club, a gym, a sumptuous skylounge, and a netted inflatable pool. The modern gym is air-conditioned and fitted with the latest equipment, plus a TV. It also doubles as a garage for an impressive water toy selection.

Like any luxury superyacht, Lady Azul also spoils its guests with multiple dining options, indoors and outdoors. A gorgeous dining area on the main deck reveals a huge table where all the ten guests onboard can dine together. The honey-colored furniture creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere together with the Art Deco accents in vibrant colors, including beautiful glass mosaics.

Next to the formal dining room, the main salon boasts generous, comfy seating and a well-appointed bar. The salon opens directly onto the exterior deck, creating a versatile indoor/outdoor space. Large windows flood the entire area with natural light, similar to the ones in the master suite that offer superb panoramic views.

A top-quality yacht always feels more spacious than its actual size. Taking full advantage of its 390 GT volume, this 2001 Heesen feels like a comfortable home away from home. In 2019, it caught the attention of a millionaire who was looking for his first-ever private yacht. His name was Stephan Schaerrer, and he ended up buying Lady Azul, who was asking €6,75 million ($7.1 million) at the time.

Nearly five years later, Lady Azul is up for grabs once again and worth more than it did back in 2019. That’s because Schaerrer wasn’t afraid to invest in a costly refit. The yacht had undergone a prior refit in 2015, but this one was the most complex. Both the exterior and interior were totally revamped. As a result, despite its age, Lady Azul can ask for more than $120,000 for one week on board and for more than $8.4 million (€7,95) from anyone wishing to become its new owner.

Born in Switzerland, Schaerrer was more attracted to the mountains than the sea, but his wife Maria convinced him to try out this new type of adventure. Like many other millionaires, they fell in love with the idea of owning a private yacht after chartering a luxury boat. Together with their children, they enjoyed fabulous trips to places like Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar onboard Lady Azul, both prior to and after the extensive refit.

The upgraded pleasure craft also comes with a full toy box, including Seabobs, paddleboards, kayaks, and full diving equipment. Together with the generous beach club and modern gym, it turns this elegant vessel into the perfect companion for active owners who prefer ocean adventures.
