Major NFT marketplace OpenSea launches “Get Based,” a series of digital art NFT drops on the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling network, Base. This initiative will feature weekly artworks priced at $5 or less, with some available for free.

Starting today at 12:00PM EST, “Get Based” will debut with a reimagined version of the “Endless Summer” film artwork by Carty Sewill, an artist and OpenSea employee.

The series will include works from up to 15 artists over the summer and aligns with Base’s “On-Chain Summer II” promotion beginning on June 3, an event featuring over 600 $ETH or nearly $2.3M in prizes, incentives, and gas credits across various projects and protocols.

Weekly NFT Drops Featuring Emerging Artists

New digital artworks will be released weekly on both OpenSea’s platform and the social media protocol Farcaster.

The open edition drops will be priced at $5 or less with artists involved include Jhekub, creator of RGB Punks; Hun, creator of “Primitives”; meme artist Cryptic Poet; Yiying Lu, known for the Twitter “Fail Whale”; illustrator Subwway; and Thank You Base God.

OpenSea will also offer native asset bridging to Base and the option to purchase using fiat currency and credit cards via MoonPay integration to introduce collectors to Base and its capabilities.

Devin Finzer, Co-founder and CEO of OpenSea, shared that Base has proven to be a “catalyst for new utility and creativity” and further added, “We’ve been supportive of Base since its inception, and we’re excited to highlight up-and-coming artists with unique artistic styles and grow their presence within the larger NFT community.”

OpenSea, a partner in last year’s promotion and a Base launch partner, aims to further integrate and promote Base within the NFT ecosystem.
