Our own Area 10 River City Special Olympians performed and won at the highest levels during the competition held at Keesler Air Force Base on the Mississippi Coast this weekend.
A team from the greater Vicksburg Warren County area along with their support staff traveled to the Mississippi Coast for the annual games. Local coach Rick Daughtry was honored as the Coach of the Year during the event.
Our Olympians won 27 Gold medals, 28 Silver medals, 17 Bronze medals and garnered four 4th place finishes.
After the competition ended yesterday they enjoyed the area and had a dance party in the evening. The athletes will be returning home today.
