As the tech world looks ahead, early leaks, supply chain signals, and industrial reports have begun painting a clearer picture of Samsung’s flagship plans. The Samsung Galaxy S27 series is shaping up to be one of the most substantial hardware and architectural shake-ups to the lineup in recent years.

With rumors pointing to a brand-new “Pro” tier model, custom 2nm silicon, camera overhauls, and display security tech going wider across the lineup, here is everything known about the Galaxy S27 lineup so far.

Lineup Shake-up: Enter the Galaxy S27 Pro

For years, Samsung’s flagship structure has followed a predictable trio: the standard base model, the Plus, and the range-topping Ultra. However, supply chain reports indicate a major portfolio shift.

Samsung is rumored to introduce a four-tier lineup, slotting a brand-new Galaxy S27 Pro right between the S27+ and the S27 Ultra.

  • Target Audience: The Galaxy S27 Pro is engineered for users wanting “Ultra-grade” performance and high-tier camera specs in a more compact chassis—without requiring the S Pen.
  • The “Compact Flagship” Play: This model directly targets smaller pro-tier devices while offering high-density battery tech and top-tier silicon.

Processors: Custom 2nm Silicon and Global Qualcomm Split

Processor allocation remains one of the most talked-about topics surrounding the S27 series. Following mixed regional rollouts in previous generations, Samsung is preparing a refined strategy for its next chipsets.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy

The top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra (and reportedly the new S27 Pro) will utilize Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy globally. Built on an ultra-efficient 2nm process node, this custom processor aims to deliver huge leaps in single-thread CPU performance and sustained graphics rendering, effectively addressing thermal throttling under heavy loads.

Exynos 2700 Regional Variance

For the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+, Samsung is expected to continue its dual-chip strategy. Select international regions will see Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2700. Early prototype benchmarks hint at an updated core layout paired with a next-generation Xclipse GPU, focusing on power draw reductions during generative AI tasks.

Hardware-Level Privacy Displays & Screen Upgrades

One of the standout features debuting on preceding Ultra models was Samsung’s hardware-level Privacy Display. Leaks indicate that Samsung plans to roll this physical viewing-angle control layer out across more devices in the S27 family.

  • How it Works: Unlike software filters or stick-on screen protectors, the hardware Privacy Display adjusts light distribution within the OLED panel stack. When activated, side-angle viewing turns completely dark, keeping sensitive notifications and messages private in public settings while maintaining full clarity for the user facing the display.
  • Exclusive Tech: Reports suggest Samsung is withholding panel licensing of this hardware feature from competing manufacturers, making it a key sales driver for the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.

Camera Systems: Trimming the Fat & Sensor Tweaks

Camera arrangements across the S27 series are undergoing notable structural re-engineering.

Galaxy S27 Ultra: Streamlining to a Triple Camera Array

In a surprise turn, rumors suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra may drop its legacy 10MP 3x optical telephoto lens—a module used across multiple preceding generations. Supply chain leaks indicate Samsung’s high-resolution 200MP main camera sensor can crop natively at 2x and 3x optical quality with superior clarity and light gathering compared to the aging 10MP module.

  • Main: 200MP ISOCELL sensor (improved light-capture LOFIC tech)
  • Ultrawide: 50MP sensor
  • Telephoto: 50MP Periscope lens with 5x optical zoom

Galaxy S27 & S27+

The standard and Plus models are expected to maintain a versatile triple-lens array, featuring an upgraded 50MP main sensor, paired with a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP 3x telephoto shooter.

Battery Tech: Silicon-Carbon Breakout

Battery capacity has long hit a ceiling on traditional lithium-ion form factors. Leaks suggest Samsung will adopt Silicon-Carbon (Si-C) battery technology on its higher-tier S27 models.

Silicon-carbon anodes allow for higher energy density without physically expanding the battery cell size. This shift could allow the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro to reach capacities between 5,000 mAh and 5,500+ mAh while maintaining thin, ergonomic profiles.

Release Date Window and Expected Pricing

Samsung typically hosts its flagship Galaxy Unpacked event in the first quarter of the year. Based on historic release windows and current testing cycles, the S27 series is expected to debut in early 2027.

While official pricing remains unconfirmed, industry analysts expect base models to start near $799 USD, while the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra will likely maintain its premium tier around $1,299 USD. The new Galaxy S27 Pro is tipped to bridge the pricing gap, likely slotting in around $999–$1,099 USD.
