Cristie Anne said only residents and their registered guests can enter the community. Tourists cannot simply drive through the neighbourhood to view the houses.

A Disney-themed luxury home inside Walt Disney World Resort has become a rare example of residential real estate built around an entire film story. Its owner reveals how the property combines privacy, bespoke design and direct access to the parks.Cristie Anne, 39, originally from Miami, Florida, owns the house in Golden Oak, Disney’s private residential community in Florida. She and her family have spent the past six years dividing their time between the property and their main Miami home. The house is inspired by Belle’s cottage from Beauty and the Beast. Unlike many Golden Oak properties that feature smaller Disney references, the home was designed around the film’s world, with details created by Disney Imagineers.‘Ours was inspired by Belle’s cottage from Beauty and the Beast, with Imagineer-designed details woven throughout the home.’Cristie Anne said the connection to the film is particularly clear from the outside.‘If you compare the exterior to the cottage from the live-action film, the inspiration is unmistakable.’She added that the property stands apart from other Disney homes because its design follows an entire Disney story rather than simply incorporating themed interiors.‘While many homes in Golden Oak incorporate subtle Disney touches or beautifully themed interior spaces, very few are designed around an entire Disney story the way ours is.’

Inside the Disney-inspired property

The house sits within one of Golden Oak’s smaller residential collections. The neighbourhood is designed with winding streets and detailed landscaping, giving it the appearance of a storybook village. For the family, that setting was part of the appeal when they first saw the property. The house was not originally on their list of potential vacation homes. Cristie Anne said the family had been looking mainly at beach properties when her parents visited friends who had recently bought a home in Golden Oak.Her parents happened to tour Cristie Anne’s house on the day it came on the market. They then FaceTimed Cristie Anne and her brother to show them the property.Their daughter was three at the time, making the idea of a Beauty and the Beast-inspired home particularly appealing to the family.‘Our daughter was only three years old at the time, so the idea of a Beauty and the Beast-inspired home at Disney sounded like perfection. It felt like the perfect place to watch her grow up while creating family traditions together.’The property is part of a high-value residential market. Other homes at Walt Disney World are currently being offered for around $8 million (£5.9 million), while reported Golden Oak prices range from about $2 million (£1.5 million) to $20 million (£14.8 million). The purchase price of Cristie Anne’s home has not been disclosed.

A home built around Disney access

Location is another major selling point of Golden Oak properties. The family can reach the Disney parks within minutes, either by car or using their private Disney transportation van.‘Depending on which park we’re visiting, we’re usually just minutes away by car or our private Disney transportation van, which takes us and drops us right at the front of the park,’ Cristie Anne explained. The arrangement allows the family to visit the parks without treating every trip as a full-day outing. They can go for a single attraction, have dinner at a Disney resort or watch the fireworks before returning home. The family tends to spend more time at the property during the winter, when the weather is more comfortable.Cristie Anne said the biggest difference is the freedom to enjoy Disney without the usual pressure associated with a holiday.‘When you’re on vacation, there’s often pressure to do everything because your trip has an end date. Living nearby takes that pressure away. We can pop into a park for one ride, have dinner at a resort hotel, or simply stay home and watch the fireworks from our house.’

Privacy remains a key feature

Despite being located within one of the world’s most visited holiday destinations, Golden Oak is designed as a private residential community.Cristie Anne said only residents and their registered guests can enter the community. Tourists cannot simply drive through the neighbourhood to view the houses.Security and privacy are therefore important parts of the residential experience. The homes also cannot be used as short-term rentals, helping maintain Golden Oak as a permanent residential community.Cristie Anne, who shares aspects of her life at the property online, said she takes care not to film or photograph her neighbours’ homes.

Everyday life beyond the parks

The property offers easy access to Disney’s restaurants, resorts, golf courses, spas and entertainment facilities. However, everyday services such as supermarkets and schools are not located within Disney property. For routine errands, the family drives a few minutes outside the resort. That combination of access and seclusion is what Cristie Anne sees as the property’s biggest attraction. The family can enjoy the Disney experience whenever they want while still maintaining a conventional home life.‘It really is the best of both worlds… the magic of Disney whenever we want it, with all the conveniences of everyday life just minutes away.’For Cristie Anne, the home has become more than a vacation property. After six years of splitting time between Miami and Golden Oak, she has no plans to sell the Disney-inspired house anytime soon.
